Creatives with Unseen Disabilities, workshop, 28th June

Wear Your ACCESSory

Having a disabled, neurodivergent or chronically ill bodymind comes with remembering to take care of ourselves. This might be scheduling in rest, setting alarms for pills, having regular moments to snack. But how often do we forget, or are too distracted by life to prioritise our needs? Did we accidentally skip that midday banana again? How can we gently remind ourselves to act on our access needs?

We collaborated with Kreukelcollectief and Centraal Museum Utrecht for a beaded ACCESSory workshop. Participants were able to make bracelets, keychains, any accessory that could symbolically or literally help them to check in with themselves and their access needs. For inspiration, we visited Kreukelcollectief’s ‘Ik ben gewoon hier’ exhibition and brainstormed what our wearable accessories should remind us of.

Date: Saturday 28th June
Time: 13:00–15:30
Location: Centraal Museum, Utrecht

Toegankelijk Together

For the national accessibility week we have partnered up with foundation Music That Listens and organised an accessibility fair for initiatives and institutions working on accessibility in the sports and cultural sector in Rotterdam. We came together to network, and see how we can support and work with one another for a more accessible future for the city. Thank you Rotterdam municipality for financially supporting this event, and Theater Rotterdam for hosting us.
